The staff has all the information you might need to take a Beatles tour or, if you prefer, to go out on your own. It is an easy walk from the hostel to Mathew Street, which is the site of today’s Cavern Club, and just a short walk to Slater Street and the Jackaranda, which was formerly owned by Alan Williams. Interestingly, there are a number of Beatles sites within a two block radius of the Embassie. |

John and Stu Sutcliffe’s local pub at the time was Ye Cracke on Rice Street, which is a necessary stop on any Liverpool pub crawl. LIPA (the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts or the ‘fame school’ as it is called) is a mere 5 minute walk from the hostel. In the past, many fortunate hostellers have seen Sir Paul McCartney on one of his frequent visits to his former school. Beatles tours are available daily and the Embassie staff will have all the information you might need to book a tour. Often, smaller more intimate tours Beatles tours can be arranged by a certified Liverpool guide who is a friend of the hostel. Before booking your tour, you may want to inquire if a tour has been arranged through the hostel. If you’re thinking of doing your own Beatles tour in Liverpool, the Embassie recommends you buy the book The Beatles Merseyside by Ian Forsyth, available at Tourist Information and all good bookshops, excellent valu |
